Born is Severna Park, MD, Ed Morris was an early entrepreneur with his first paper route at age 5. Not long after, he was introduced to boating and developed a lifelong passion for the water. Throughout his teen years Ed often worked as a dockhand and thought a maritime career was in his future. However, a visit to the Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara transformed his deep interest in photography into a professional pursuit. When it came time to move from the East Coast to attend Brooks, Ed did so memorably; riding his bike across the country for the first time with older brother Newth, who was also moving to Southern California.
While a student at Brooks, Ed developed the concept for Mayor’s Across America, his insightful look into the heart of American people through the eyes of it’s most visible civic leaders. He completed his second cross-country odyssey on two wheels in the summer of 2000 and has spent the ensuing years developing the book further, as well as establishing his photography career. Now, with his firm Ed Morris Photography, Ed is recognized as one of Southern California’s most up-and-coming commercial photographers. Clients include Preferred Hotel Group, Samsung, Telogis, The Heritage Foundation, Clear Channel, and Chefmaster. Currently he is focused on the Spring ’09 publication of Mayor’s Across America, a culmination of many years of hard work and personal passion.
Ed and his wife, Jessica, reside in Newport Beach, CA where they enjoy surfing and sailing as often as possible.
